Question by Jenny: Can my cat smell the medicine in her food?
I tried giving my cat her worm medicine by breaking the caplets open and putting it in small slices of ham but she doesn’t want it. And it’s weird because she’ll go after ANY food but she just ate two bites and ran each time. She thinks that i’m evil now because i swatted her a couple times today and i’m trying to get her to eat that so maybe she thinks i’m trying to poison her…
Well can my cat smell it? Also, can the medicine hurt her?

probably so. I once tried to be slick & give my cat his meds by mixing it in with wet cat food. Wet ca food was always a treat for them & he ate around the medication. Silly heart. I miss him. God bless his soul.

Vet tech’s do many many things. They do pharmaceuticals, assist vet, dentistry, nursing, run equipment, they can also after school work in labs, with wild life, in zoo’s, do field work.. theres many possiblities for a vet tech. I suggest that you look at a local school and see what the outline of their vet tech course is. B/c each school teaches a little bit different then the next.

Question by nirekelly27: Does the bell on a cat’s collar affect its hearing over time?
I’ve been told by friends that by putting a belled collar on my cat it will cause him to become deaf before old age. Is this true? Or is this an old wives’ tale? I would like any scientific proof or study informaiton on this subject.

The first thing is to have an outline of a plan you want to present. What do you want your organization to do? What will be your short term goals and long term goals.
When you have done that, you need to check with other groups who care about the Tiger. You may google these topics: large cat rescue, carnivore habitat, large animal habitat, tiger rescue. International Zoo, Large Animal Husbandry, etc.
Find out what other organizations are doing so you don’t duplicate or take away from their efforts. Many times organizations in existence need help. There are many who will gripe about causes, but few who want to do the unglamorous hard work!

Question by Randoming: If cats only have night vision, why is it that my cat can tell when we can’t see him in the dark?
I know this because whenever the light bulb goes out in a room, he hides behind the furniture and tries to sneak up on us and grab our ankles. He does this in the light, too but he does it more in the dark.

Question by poohbear: What is the educational animal series called from a while ago with a pink panther in it?
I think it was a pink panther. He never talked he was just always on the screen when a new animal came up. It had a boarder around the animals when they where first introduced and the narrator was a man. They where VHS and there cover was white. That’s all I can remember about it but I have been searching everywhere for the name and can’t find it.I want to get them so my children can watch them cause I loved them as a kid.

Question by N8: What wild cat breeds can be found in Illinois?
We saw this large wild cat walking through our backyard we want to know what it is.

Answer by hudsongray
Illinois had a mountain lion that traveled from South Dakota last year, it was shot outside Chicago.
Native wild cats–I highly doubt you’d have lynx, but you could have bobcat. Was the end of the tail white?
Anything else would be domestic cats, but some do get up over 20 pounds if they have Maine Coon in them.
Ocelots aren’t this far north, Jaguars were killed out of this country about 100 years ago. That’s it for ‘cats’ on this continent.

Question by Shawn: What can I do to help my cats vision?
My outdoor cat recently and suddenly went blind. She is five years old. The vet said it might have been a stroke. Since bringing home from vet I noticed her eyes followed my hand movements showing some improvement. Is the anything I can do/give her to help her vision?
Best answer:
Answer by JCo*
She may still be able to see shadows, but as for repair, I don’t see there being anything to help. She will adapt to being blind and start to rely on her other senses to guide her through the house and maintain a high quality of living.
I have had a blind cat, a deaf cat, and everything in between and they all lived normal lives. You may need a second cat to guide your other one around, I don’t know if that’s why mine were all successful at adapting, we always have a bunch of cats around (we live on a farm and people abandon their cats here)
